While works like Dr. Horowitz's Why Can’t I Get Better? chronicle the medical experience of Lyme and Lyme-like Diseases (LLDs), there exists little research about the social changes people living with Lyme face. There are some valuable personal memoirs on individuals' experiences with Lyme as well as medical books. Yet, to date there has been little to no attempt to streamline information on social, psychological, and financial impacts of this often invisible illness. Guided by research, Bitten will track statistical and data trends within the Lyme community and interweave research with touching personal narratives from those most affected. This book is for the people living with the illness and those wanting to learn more.
